Play Like a Pro: Using Cover

In GTA IV, you will be confronted by many, many enemies – enemies that are usually as well armed as you. Completing missions depends on how well you use the surrounding area and environment to protect you from gunfire.

Just about any object can be used as cover and Niko will automatically hide behind the closest object simply by pressing R1. For low to the ground objects such as a stack of pipes, running towards the pipes and pressing R1 nearby will cause Niko to slide to the object and immediately take cover behind it.

While hiding behind a wall, or an object you can move from left to right and fire from around corners. Position of your cover is extremely important to remeber as well. The ideal cover is that which allows you to aim at all the enemies in the area, but offers the most difficult target for the enemies to hit. Once you have a position like this all it comes down to is slowly picking off the surrounding enemies so that you may progress.

Redonculous GTA 4 Videos of the Week: GTA STUNTS

A player doing some stunts in Grand Theft Auto Four.  Worth a watch if you love some good old fashioned (and some pretty innovative) GTA-styled stunts as much as we do.

Characters of Liberty City: Brucie

Brucie is an over the top, loud mouthed steroid junkie who is obsessed with himself and how other people perceive him. Brucie, like Little Jacob – meets Niko through Roman Bellic’s connections. Brucie’s catch phrase “be genetically different!” is the basis of his life style, and to this end he owns his own custom car repair shop.

Brucie’s missions usually involve assassinating some individual whom Brucie perceives has wronged him in some shape or form.

Likes:

Any ritzy establishment that is expensive.

Hours of Operation:

Brucie can be contacted any time from 7:00am to 1:00 am the following day.

Special Ability:

If Brucie likes you enough you can call him up and he will pick you up in a helicopter, and then take you to various locations around Liberty City.

Jobs:

Brucie will send Niko emails asking him to steal certain vehicles from all over Liberty City, and then place them into his lock-up. The more damaged a vehicle is when returned to Brucie’s lock-up, the less money the player receives for the theft. If you damaged the car heavily while “acquiring” it, you can spend $100 at any Pay ‘n’ Spray to completely restore it to brand new before turning it in, for maximum cash.  You must reply to Brucie’s email to accept the vehicle theft mission.

After you complete Brucie’s final mission he will give you for free, the sports car you raced with in the mission “No.1.”

You are also able to phone Brucie to arrange street races for money, once you have completed his missions.

Play Like a Pro: Losing the Heat

In Liberty City, you can’t go three feet without seeing a police cruiser or police officer patrolling the streets. Inevitably, you will encounter the police while doing such activities such as driving like a maniac, or drifting around corners…into a police cruisers.

Once you do something illegal in the presence of the police, you will notice that the radar will have a large red circle on it. This is the circle that you must get out of if you want to lose the police. The higher your wanted level, the larger the circle is. If you manage to drive out of the circle boundary without the police seeing you, then all you need to do is wait a few seconds while your warrant level fades away. Losing the police is as simple as making as many winding turns down as many streets as possible.

You may of noticed a few smaller flashing red circles on the radar when you have a wanted level. These flashing circles are the locations of police vehicles nearby. Knowing where the police are ahead of time is an essential tool when trying to lose your wanted level. If the police spot you at any time the wanted circle repositions itself over you, forcing you to lose them all over again.

One final way of losing the police is to make use of the many Pay ‘n’ Spray stations throughout Liberty City. For 100$ you can enter the Pay’n’ Spray, and exit with a new paint job – instantly clearing your wanted level. Be warned however as you cannot enter a Pay ‘n’ Spray if the police see you enter – and if for some reason you are in possession of a police cruiser, Pay ‘n’ Spray will refuse to respray it.
